Inspired by Wulf Diether Graf zu Castell - a legend of German aviation

Driven by a yearning for adventure and an insatiable urge for freedom, his life redefined the boundaries of the sky. As a commercial pilot in China, he ventured to the remotest corners of the Far East. There he traversed majestic landscapes, allowed us to discover the world from a never-before-seen perspective with his aerial photographs and survived errant flights, crash landings and raids. Always on board: his Leica camera.

Castell's unwavering courage and boundless passion for flying inspire the Junkers special edition Graf zu Castell - a watch that honours the unforgettable adventures of a true pioneer in German aviation history.

The story of the Junkers F13

It changed the world of aviation

In 1919, when there were still more horse-drawn vehicles on the roads than cars, the Junkers F13 took off on its maiden flight from Dessau Dessau (Saxony-Anhalt). At the time, it was the world's first all-metal commercial aeroplane capable of carrying passengers, mail and freight. And the fact that its outer shell was made of durable corrugated duraluminium sheet was a revolutionary idea of its designer, the aircraft manufacturer Hugo Junkers.

Today, the Junkers F13 is taking off again, offering its pilots and passengers the unique experience of travelling through the air as it did 100 years ago. The visionary idea came from the passionate pilot Dieter Morszeck, who has had the new Junkers F13 faithfully reproduced by his design team - whereby all materials and workmanship have of course been further developed to make the new Junkers F13 even safer and more stable in value.
